Since we’ve been talking about Twitter for the past week, I think this video from PBS OffBook provides a lot of grist for our class discussions.
Is Twitter filled with shallow observations or is it a revolutionary tool? Or a mixture of both?

I think in terms of using Twitter for journalism, it is a revolutionary tool. Journalists – whether professional or citizen – can use Twitter in a multitude of ways. As mentioned in the video, journalists can promote their work and that of their colleagues; they can use twitter to cover news, and often in real time, live tweeting as they learn more about an unfolding story; they can reach out to their audience and fellow journalists; they can connect on a larger scale and directly learn about what their followers want them to cover.
Twitter can be shallow depending on how tweeters use it, but I personally feel that it allows me to be a better journalist-in-the-making, because I am able to consume and share information quickly.
